It takes more than talk to abolish abortion

It takes more than talk to abolish abortion

Friend,

I’m sure you have heard me say that it is way past time for Texas to Ignore Roe and establish equal protection for preborn children. Nearly 49 years of “legalized” bloodshed is 49 years too many.

You don’t hear that kind of talk from many anti-abortion organizations.

And you see even fewer organizations ACTING on it.

But Friend, when we say Ignore Roe, we mean it.

And when we demand equal protection we don’t intend to accept any substitutes.

Roe isn’t a law. By God’s standards, Roe v. Wade is an evil, unjust court opinion. That alone should be enough reason for us to ignore it. But Roe doesn’t only offend God, it also violates the Constitution.

Those of us who want to honor God and uphold the Constitution should have ignored Roe in 1973 … or in any of the forty-nine years since. But we didn’t; and millions of preborn babies have suffered the consequences.

That’s why you will hear us calling for repentance as we work for righteous legislation.

What we have allowed to go on in Texas, under the protection of our laws, brings us under God’s judgment. And the answer to God’s judgment is always repentance—for us and for our civil leaders.

Our faith in Jesus Christ drives our work to abolish abortion.

We desire to honor and obey God first of all and then love our preborn neighbors as ourselves. It’s really that simple.

Our commitment to ignoring Roe and establishing equal protection are born out of our foundational principles.

Our first principle (and what drives us to say “Ignore Roe”) is: follow the higher law.

This simply means that there are levels of authority and jurisdiction and God is at the top. He has all authority in heaven and on earth and His jurisdiction reaches to the ends of the earth. God’s law is supreme because He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Under God, we also have delegated authorities like the Constitution. And as long as the Constitution is in agreement with the higher law of God, it should be obeyed by all Americans, including the Supreme Court.

Our second principle is to keep the Golden Rule.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It’s not too hard to understand how this applies to the issue of abortion. We simply apply this rule to preborn people like we do toward born people. If we want the laws against murder to protect us—and we do—then we must demand the same protection for our preborn neighbors.

Our third principle is to walk by faith.

Like I said already, our faith drives our work. We deliberately walk by faith and not by sight when we are choosing strategies and planning projects.

The Bible says that faith does not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

If we want the power of God on our side in this fight—and we do—then we must not compromise godly principles to rely on the wisdom of men. We must always rely on the firm foundation of God’s Word to show us how to fight.

And the principle that brings our core motivations together is that we do it all for the glory of God.

We aren’t in this fight to gain notoriety for ourselves or to please men with pragmatically compromised tactical plans. We cannot bring glory to God by pursuing worldly strategies for success or supporting laws that violate His commands.

We must not do evil that good may come.

If we want to glorify God in our efforts to end abortion—and we do—we need to keep His commandments WHILE we fight. Our faithful obedience to His commands will bring Him the most glory.

Our mission is to do God’s will God’s way so that He gets the glory.

Ultimately, we trust that as we faithfully obey the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do, God will bless our work.

And as more and more people seek to abolish abortion by doing God’s will God’s way, we will see more of God’s blessing for our state and for our nation.

Without God’s blessing on our efforts we cannot win this fight. On the other hand we know that if God is for us who can be against us?

In a nutshell, those principles are what sets AATX apart from other anti-abortion organizations. And our principles aren’t just talk.

I have told you before how we have seen the conversation in Texas shifting, how Ignore Roe is becoming a talking point for Pro-Life personalities and political candidates.

This is good news!

It means our work is making a difference and shifting the conversation toward justice for preborn Texans. This is in large part due to people like you who have gotten involved and stood with us to call for the abolition of abortion without compromise. So that is encouraging!

But AATX is still the only statewide anti-abortion group in Texas that is ACTUALLY WORKING to Ignore Roe and establish equal protection for preborn babies.

I don’t mean to be flippant, but talk is cheap. It is way past time to act.

Let’s not wait for another forty-nine years to establish equal protection for ALL preborn children, no matter their age or how developed they are.

Friend, are you with us in this fight?

Do you want equal protection for preborn people … no substitutes?

Are you tired of pragmatic strategies and wisdom of men … and ready to fight this evil by the power of God?

I hope so!

We are so encouraged by all the people who have joined us in this fight over the last few years.

We are able to carry on the work we do, BECAUSE of the way God has provided through our Sustaining Members’ partnership in the work. We give glory to God for the blessing of these partners.

If you value our work, and you are able to invest, I encourage you to help us enter 2022 strong by becoming an AATX Sustaining Member TODAY.

Because of the advocacy work that we do, AATX donations are not tax-deductible.

But if a tax deduction is important to you at the end of the year, you may still invest in the work we do through the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, which is a 501(c)3 organization. Your most generous donation will give us momentum in 2022.

Among many other things, when you make a tax-deductible gift to the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, you help us do projects like what we did with writing and filing our Supreme Court brief in the Dobbs v. Jackson case this year.

We were able to take the message of abolition and equal protection directly to the Supreme Court because of the many people who are supporting our work. We believe that project will continue to bear fruit far into the future.

All glory to God—that was no small project and we thank you for your investment!

So if you agree with the values expressed above, please become a Sustaining Member today, even if you can just do $5 a month. Thanks!

For life, for justice, and for the glory of God,
