Description

The triangle on the shirt represents a pyramid of Egypt, and in the Biblical idiom, Egypt represents the World. Egypt is often used as a Biblical type to represent the World from which Christians are spiritually delivered out of in Christ, just as the Hebrews were physically delivered out of Egypt.

The pyramid is upside down because as Christians, we are seeking to–like the apostles before us–be accused of turning the World upside down with a message to redeem the world and redeem those caught in the snares of sin: the Gospel of the kingdom.

“And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.” – Acts 17:6-7

When the pyramid (the World) is right-side-up, pharaoh and his law are ruling over Egypt; Caesar and his law are ruling over the whole World. Turning the World upside down means setting things back to their natural intended state: all things being in submission to Christ and His law.

Texan abolitionists are represented on the shirt by our state bird, the Mockingbird, carrying the iconic yellow rose of Texas.

The Texas legislature noted that the mockingbird; “…is found in all parts of the State, in winter and in summer, in the city and in the country, on the prairie and in the woods and hills… is a singer of distinctive type, a fighter for the protection of his home, falling, if need be, in its defense, like any true Texan…”

The yellow rose of Texas reminds us of the Emily D. West mythos and how even those who are oppressed can interpose for the weak and fight against tyranny.
