Bad news and good news.

In a nutshell, because of House leadership’s actions, it isn’t looking good for the House Bill to abolish abortion (HB 2709). But YOU can help the Senate Bill (SB 2198) get a hearing by making one phone call TODAY.

The bad news. You’ll remember that “Republican” Speaker of the House, Dade Phelan, assigned House Bill 2709 to a committee not only chaired by a Democrat who has the power to kill the bill but one who was named a “Legislative Champion” by PLANNED PARENTHOOD. Unless Phelan reverses course and either assigns the bill to another committee or demands the chair give it a hearing, HB 2709 is virtually DEAD.

But the good news is that there’s still hope in the Senate!

Abolition is still ALIVE in the Senate…for now

The Senate Bill to abolish abortion (SB 2198) is not only still ALIVE but it has been assigned to the State Affairs committee which has a Republican chair, Senator Bryan Hughes (SD 1).

Now is the time to let Sen. Bryan Hughes know that we want SB 2198 to get a fair hearing. 

• SB 2198 honors God by rejecting partiality and ensuring that the same laws that protect our lives also protect babies in the womb.
  
  
• SB 2198 upholds the U.S. and Texas Constitutions which require the equal protection of the laws for all people.
  
  
• SB 2198 fulfills Legislative Priority #6 of the Republican Party of Texas to abolish abortion by providing the equal protection of the laws to preborn babies.
  
  
• SB 2198 will give legal protection to the 19,000+ babies who are still being legally murdered each year in Texas. Without equal protection, over 38,000 precious children will be legally killed by self-managed abortion IN TEXAS before the next legislative session.

Respectfully urge him to uphold the priorities of Texas Republicans and ensure that equal protection for Texas babies gets a hearing.

👉Call his office and when his legislative staff answers the phone you can say something like, “I am calling to urge Senator Hughes to give SB 2198 to abolish abortion a hearing. SB 2198 is the ONLY bill that fulfills the legislative priority of Texas Republicans to abolish abortion, and I want it to be heard!”
