Friend,
At AATX, our core motivation is to glorify God.
We aren’t engaged in this battle to build our own kingdoms or to make names for ourselves. We engage in this fight against abortion because the King of kings, the Lord Jesus Christ, commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Friend, I have been telling you about our foundational principles because as we follow these principles you will notice that our message is different than what you are probably accustomed to hearing from much of the Pro-Life movement for the last five decades.
But our mission is not complicated. We love Jesus and want to bring Him glory.
We desire to honor and obey God first of all and then love our preborn neighbors as ourselves. It’s really that simple.
The four core principles that drive our work at AATX are:
- Follow the higher law.
- Keep the Golden Rule.
- Walk by faith.
- Do it all for the glory of God.
I have talked about the others already, so right now I want to tell you what it means for us to do it all for the glory of God.
Glorifying God might sound a little lofty or abstract at first. But if we look to God’s Word we see that it is actually very practical.
Jesus told us what it means to glorify the Father when He prayed, “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.”
We glorify God by following the example of Jesus and faithfully accomplishing the work He gives us to do.
But what work does God give us to do?
Well, His two greatest commands are a great place to start; Love the Lord our God and love our neighbors as ourselves.
We live in a day and age when the word love has been reduced to an emotion—love is love, they say. But God says love is more than that… true love for God (or for anyone) is walked out in action.
Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
If we want to glorify God in our efforts to end abortion, and we do, we need to keep His commandments while we fight. Our faithful obedience to His commands will bring Him the most glory.
Following pragmatic strategies of men will not bring God more glory than simply following His commands in faith.
Our mission is to do God’s will God’s way so that He gets the glory.
We endeavor to obey Him in everything He has commanded WHILE we do the work of abolishing abortion in Texas.
This means you should notice as we work to abolish abortion that we do some things that many Pro-Life organizations do not.
We preach God’s Word which will not return void. We aren’t shy about standing on what the Bible says, and declaring God’s Word to any ears that will hear. So when God says, “You shall not pervert the justice due to … the fatherless” we take Him at His Word and we follow His command in faith.
We proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which has the power to save individuals and through those individuals the nation.
We endeavor to be salt and light in the culture because that’s what changes culture. And as the culture changes so does its politics.
We call for repentance, because our land is under judgment. And the answer to judgment is always repentance. Innocent blood has been shed in our land for almost fifty years with the protection of our laws. Repentance must come from ordinary citizens and churchgoers all the way up to the loftiest offices in our land. God will not bless our nation until we return to Him.
We believe that, as we do these things, we obey the Great Commission. First, we repent ourselves and then we make disciples teaching them in the name of Jesus to obey ALL that God has commanded. Those disciples then repent and they teach others to repent. Multiplication is how God works—that’s His economy for how He changes states and nations.
So we do it all for the glory of God.
Of course, we don’t always do this perfectly. We sometimes falter and fail, but we are grateful that we serve a God who is merciful. He is faithful to bring us to repentance as He grows our love for Him and our obedience to Him day by day.
And He gets the glory for that too!
