How could we be “moderate” about baby-murder?

How could we be “moderate” about baby-murder?

ON MONDAY, the Republican National Committee (RNC) Platform Committee passed a platform that significantly softened its position on abortion. While it can still be changed by the delegates, it no longer supports any kind of national abortion ban. The only thing it specifically opposes is late-term abortion.

While the RNC committee vaguely affirmed the 14th amendment’s guarantee that no person can be denied life without due process, they said nothing about equal protection.

As far as the RNC committee is concerned, states are merely free to pass laws protecting those rights…if they like. They will practice partiality by opposing late term abortion while wholesale affirming the life-destroying practices involved with IVF.

This is contradictory but not surprising.

For months, Donald Trump and other leading Republicans on the national level have been moderating their positions on abortion. They have embraced all kinds of exceptions and rejected any kind of national abortion ban. Trump has even opposed a state ban in Arizona.

The RNC committee is simply following in the footsteps of Pro-Life leaders who have been pushing for moderation and unprincipled compromise for decades.

Overall the Pro-Life movement has utterly failed to communicate that abortion is murder and should therefore be treated as murder by the law.

Instead, they have taught people that it is not murder, and that the primary perpetrators of abortion are actually victims.

No wonder the RNC committee is moving left on this issue.

Don’t be moderate on baby-murder❌

It is in the face of this cowardly compromise that we call on all Christians to reject the “moderate” stance on abortion. Stand up and say “no more.” Embrace abortion abolition and equal protection under the law for preborn children.

Abortion is not a minor issue that affects only a few. It is a genocide.

And it continues to happen at a rate of over 50,000 per year amongst Texans (with no sign of slowing down).

This is not the time to move the issue of abortion to the backburner. It is an emergency of monumental proportions, and it requires monumental effort to end it.

Despite opposition at the national level, we are encouraged by the progress made here in Texas. 16 candidates who took the AATX Candidate Survey and pledged to co-author a bill of abolition won their Republican primaries for Texas House of Representatives.

This was a major victory, and it is worth pointing out that many of these individuals defeated entrenched incumbents. Candidates are running openly in support of equal protection for preborn babies, and winning in Texas.

Since 2017, a bill of abolition has been filed in the Texas legislature in every regular session, and the 2025 session will be no exception.

We are encouraged by the quality of candidates running and winning. We have competent, committed, passionate leaders who will hit the ground running in January when the 89th session starts.

I’m excited about what’s ahead and I hope you are too!

Lots of work to do in 2025

Looking ahead to January, we still face major obstacles.

  • Many legislators still need to be convinced to support abolition.
  • Depending on who is elected, the Speaker of the House could still oppose abolition.
  • Before it can become law an abolition bill needs to successfully pass out of committee and both chambers of the legislature, and then be signed by the Governor.

In other words, we still have a lot of work to do, and we need your help.
