Friend, Please take a moment to read this powerful guest email with a heartfelt message from Jeremiah Thomas’ dad, Rusty. Thank you. Bradley Pierce
Dear friend, I need just a moment. I want to thank you. Thank you for the hard work you have put into this campaign to end abortion in Texas – from the calls, to the emails, to your prayers, to your signed petitions, and your presence last week when we made history. Thank you for supporting and honoring my son Jeremiah’s wish to abolish abortion in Texas. We have made historic progress with HB-896 – the hearing last week was the first time a bill to completely abolish abortion was given a hearing in ANY legislature in the country. I cannot say this enough times: thank you for helping make that possible. I know you and I continue to pray for God’s blessing on our labors — that this mission to abolish abortion in Texas will spread like wildfire across the country and the 46 years of legalized murder of Roe v. Wade will come to an end. Unfortunately, some are trying to make all that effort and all that momentum be for nothing. You see, the committee chairman State Representative Jeff Leach has not yet scheduled a committee vote on HB-896 – the Abolish Abortion in Texas Act. He’s even expressed some level of hostility toward the bill recently. Even today, the official status of the bill on the legislative website is “left pending in committee.” The hopes and prayers of thousands of mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, and the unspoken cries of unborn babies remains “left pending in committee.” “Left pending in committee”… if I wasn’t so shocked, the casual horror of that statement would bring me to my knees in tears. I need your help again – not for myself, but for our shared mission to abolish abortion. We cannot allow HB-896, the Abolish Abortion in Texas Act, to remain “left pending in committee.” We have until May 6 to move this bill forward. If a vote is scheduled and held, HB 896 can take the next step and can still become a reality. But unless pro-lifers who want to actually do something to abolish abortion like you and me stand up for the unborn, Representative Jeff Leach will continue to stonewall the bill and it will wither on the vine “left pending in committee” when the legislature adjourns. Will you do these two things for me? It will also gently remind him that Texans across the state are watching his actions and openly questioning his commitment to the pro-life principles of the Republican Party of Texas platform. It will help make clear that thousands upon thousands of Texans INSIST that he not leave HB-896 — the Abolish Abortion in Texas Act — “pending in committee.” It will show that we insist on a scheduled committee vote as soon as possible. This vital legislation will end abortion in Texas, but ONLY if Chairman Leach will officially schedule and hold a committee vote. Second, will you consider financially supporting Abolish Abortion Texas? They’re not bankrolled by the deep-pocketed abortion industry like our opponents. I have seen firsthand that their operation takes the Biblical mandate seriously to be good stewards of the resources God and you have blessed them with. However frugal they may be, running the professional political programs needed to continue to fight for HB-896 and our goal of ending abortion in Texas takes money. The robo-calls, the Facebook ads, even sending emails like this one cost money. And I’m not asking you to send them money to pad their pockets, I assure you. They’re not even requesting any pay right now. That’s why I hope you’ll prayerfully consider making a sacrificial donation to Abolish Abortion Texas (AATX). Your contribution of $1,000, $750, $500, $250, $100 or even $50 will go a long way toward helping AATX keep the heat on Representative Leach, and continue to organize and build the movement to abolish abortion in Texas. I know that’s a lot to ask. Better than many, I understand the strain of medical bills and the financial struggles we all face. But the truth is simple, I wouldn’t ask if this wasn’t important. With your help, AATX has gotten legislation to abolish abortion further in the legislative process than ANYONE else in the country. But all that momentum and progress could be lost if they have to take their foot off the gas. Loss of energy and momentum now could even embolden our pro-death, pro-abortion opponents and make future progress doubly difficult. Our mission is vital, but I know $500, $250 or even $100 is a lot to ask. Your monthly, recurring donation is an easy way to support AATX’s mission to abolish abortion in Texas in a budget-friendly way. Such recurring monthly donations can sustain an organizing like AATX for the long haul. Again, I want to take a moment to thank you for all you have to done to help get HB-896 as far as we’ve come. Please do whatever you can, knowing it will be gratefully accepted and carefully used. Thank you for taking this important action for the unborn. For life, Rusty Thomas P.S. We have made historic progress with HB-896 – the hearing last week was the first time a bill to completely abolish abortion was given a hearing in ANY legislature in the country. Unfortunately, some are trying to make all that effort and all that momentum be for nothing. Will you do these two things for me? First, if you have not already done so, please sign your petition to let Chairman Leach know we are not going away. Your petition will urge him to honor Jeremiah’s dying wish and schedule a committee vote on HB 896 – the Abolish Abortion in Texas Act. Second, will you consider financially supporting Abolish Abortion Texas? Your contribution of $1,000, $750, $500, $250, $100 or even $50 will go a long way toward helping AATX keep the heat on Representative Leach, and continue to organize and build the movement to abolish abortion in Texas.
