We are just days removed from our historic committee hearing for HB 896, the bill to fully protect the unborn in Texas.

While we still have much work to do, none of the amazing things you and I have accomplished already would have been possible without God’s blessing.

Be sure to take a moment today to thank our Lord for His faithfulness. For ours is the responsibility to do what He has called us to do, but the results ultimately are His.

Now we MUST focus on moving the bill forward by May 9th.  And I can tell you, the political leadership in Austin, unfortunately including committee Chairman Jeff Leach, is fighting tooth and nail to be sure that doesn’t happen.

But if they had gotten their way, we would never have held a hearing on the bill.  Thanks to your amazing work in DEMANDING a hearing, and God’s blessing, more people flooded the Capitol in support of HB 896 than has happened for any bill in recent memory, AND we indeed had an historic hearing for this historic bill.

Now we must DEMAND a vote, and fight to win it despite the hypocrisy of legislative leadership.

That’s why I hope you’ll sign your petition to Chairman Jeff Leach and the committee, insisting that they give HB 896 a vote.

In case you missed my earlier emails, House Bill 896 sponsored by Rep. Tony Tinderholt received a hearing Monday evening in the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence.

This bill would completely outlaw abortion in the state of Texas and is the first of its kind in Texas and, quite possibly, in our nation since Roe v. Wade.

This hearing was the culmination of prayers, calls, emails and signed petitions by the tens of thousands of men and women across our state who are being the voice of the voiceless.

By the grace of God, y’all made this happen after weeks of hard work and dedication to our cause.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you have done.

Earlier this year at the beginning of the legislative session I delivered more than 70,000 of your petitions to Governor Abbott calling for the abolition of abortion in Texas.

More than 70,000 of you took the time out of your day to sign our petition showing your support for this important legislation.

Never before has a Governor of Texas received such an overwhelming statement of support for the sanctity of life.

If you haven’t had a chance to take a stand demanding a vote for HB 896, please sign our petition to abolish abortion in Texas, insisting that Chairman Leach give it a vote.

If you have already signed this petition demanding a vote, please forward this to a friend and ask them to do the same.

It’s vital that you take action right away, as we only have until May 9th before the bill is dead..

And whatever else you can do, please consider chipping in $15, $10 or even $5 to help in this fight.

The work of people like you all across Texas has already accomplished so much.

All through the early days of session, y’all answered my call to pray and to take action to help encourage Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Chairman Jeff Leach give a hearing to House Bill 896.

When it was looking doubtful that the committee hearing would actually happen, you responded in faith and help me deliver another 7,000+ petitions to Chairman Leach.

In response to the petitions, calls and emails from folks like you all across the state, Chairman Leach scheduled our bill for a hearing this past Monday.

As if that wasn’t already an incredible showing of support, I was humbled when more than 400 of you took time out of your busy schedules to come to Austin to show your support for the sanctity of life.

To God be the glory!

But now we must take action again, or the bill will die for good on May 9th.

So, take a moment today to thank our Lord for what we have witnessed so far this year through our efforts to protect the unborn. Please also pray that He would be with us in the days ahead as we continue our effort to be the voice of the voiceless.
