Before you read this, watch the 30 second video above
That video will tell you almost everything you need to know about abortion in Texas right now.
We didn’t make this video. It was put out by a pro-abortion organization that wants women to know that no matter what state they live in, they can still get pills in the mail and perform their own abortions at home.
It’s called a self-induced (a/k/a self-managed) abortion, and it is becoming more common by the day.
The thing that is mindblowing for most people to realize is that it isn’t illegal for women to perform their own abortions at home in Texas.
You see, Pro-Life laws usually restrict medical businesses and practitioners but specifically protect the mother’s legal “right” to actively and willingly participate in killing her own child.
What about the Texas abortion ban?
Even now, after the Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, it is still legal for mothers in Texas to kill their own babies, and they are doing it with pills ordered through the mail.
The overturn of Roe did trigger new Texas laws. The news headlines lead many people to believe that this means that all abortion is banned in Texas.
It’s not true because these laws don’t apply to mothers aborting their own children.
Here’s what that looks like in the Texas trigger law, HB 1280:

And just about every other Pro-Life law in Texas or any other state contains a similar exemption for mothers to ensure that they are not subject to the law.
Pro-abortion forces are trumpeting this information all over the internet and directing women who want abortions to the many available sources to order their own abortion pills, even for free!
Information on how to DIY your abortion at home with pills is not hard to find. A simple Google search turns up multiple sources very quickly.
These organizations aren’t hiding what they are doing because it’s not illegal for women to abort their babies in this way.
Aren’t abortion numbers down in Texas?
When you see headlines saying that our abortion numbers have gone down to nearly zero, they are talking about REPORTED abortions.
When abortions were done in medical clinics they had to report numbers. But now that women do their own abortions at home, no one is counting. The reported numbers of abortions in Texas no longer tell the story of what is really going on.[1]
The question is, do we care?
Does it matter to us that babies are still dying if the reported numbers look good?
Do the babies who are killed at home and flushed down the toilet count…
even though we can’t tally the totals?
Yes, they do. Each and every one is created in the image of God and is precious in His sight.
Equal protection and nothing less
That is why we have always fought for the equal protection of the laws for EVERY baby. And that’s what we will continue to fight for.
It shouldn’t be legal for mothers to kill their own children in the womb any more than it is for them to kill their children after they are born. Homicide laws protect born children and they should equally protect preborn children as well. This isn’t complicated.
The way to provide real protection for babies is to protect them with the same laws that protect the rest of us. It’s what the Bible calls the Golden Rule.
That’s what we’re fighting for. I hope you are with us in 2023!
Your support helps keep us in the fight until EVERY baby is protected.
