More candidates than ever before took our pledge to abolish abortion during this election cycle.
And many of those candidates won their races and they will be in Austin in January to kick off the first post-Roe legislative session in Texas.
Since Roe is gone there is one less excuse for delaying equal protection for preborn babies. The 2023 legislative session will be a CRITICAL time for finding out who is ready to completely abolish baby murder in Texas…
…and who isn’t.
In the general election,
✅ 8 of the 10 candidates for Texas House who took our pledge won their races.
✅ And 2 of the 3 Texas Senate candidates who took the pledge won.
If any of these are your Senators or Representatives, please contact them and thank them for pledging to support the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act.
Additionally, Rep. Bryan Slaton has pledged to re-file the bill to abolish abortion by providing equal protection of the laws.
I pledge to re-file my bill to completely abolish abortion in Texas in the next legislative session, and to fight at every opportunity to see this implemented into law.

He doubled-down on his pledge even after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs.
“The Supreme Court has given us an opportunity, and Texas must lead. No more excuses, no waiting. Now the trigger bill we passed last session will take effect, but we cannot stop at pre-Roe laws. We must also completely and utterly abolish abortion in Texas.” pic.twitter.com/93ItmKe6jd

So we’re looking forward to seeing Rep. Slaton re-file the bill soon to provide the equal protection of the laws to truly abolish abortion in Texas!
But filing the bill is only the start.
Once the legislative session starts, it will be crucial for AATX to be there as a strong voice to ensure that equal protection cannot be ignored. We want to equip legislators and activists with the tools they need to be effective advocates for equal protection. And we want to bring transparency to what really goes on at the capitol and hold politicians accountable when they say one thing but do another.
That’s why we need YOU to stand with us now so we can hit the ground running in January.
📣 You can amplify the message of equal protection in Austin throughout the 2023 legislative session by becoming an AATX Sustaining Member today.
