What an amazing God we serve. He has moved in powerful ways this year!
It does us good to, “Give thanks to the Lord … remember the wondrous works that he has done.”
I want your heart to be encouraged as we give thanks for just a few things the Lord did in 2022.
Roe v. Wade was overturned
We were able to be voice for equal protection to the U.S. Supreme Court by drafting and filing a historic amicus brief. This first-ever, abolitionist legal brief filed with the Supreme Court urged the justices to overturn Roe v. Wade and to extend the equal protection of the laws to preborn children.
While the Supreme Court did not provide 14th Amendment equal protection to preborn babies as we asked…
We are thankful to God that the Court DID heed our arguments and those of many others to overturn Roe, removing a perceived barrier to abolishing abortion.
Historic vote on the House floor in Louisiana
In 2022 an abolition bill we drafted for Louisiana, House Bill 813, received committee approval and moved to the House floor for a vote. This was a historic moment because even though abolition bills have been introduced in many states, none of them have ever made it out of committee to be debated on the floor of the legislature.
Abolition is making progress!
The generosity of our donors made it possible for us to travel to Baton Rouge and support the grassroots effort in Louisiana, testify on behalf of the bill, and broadcast live coverage from the capitol on the day of the vote.
Equal protection is getting a wider hearing than ever before
The events in Louisiana allowed us not only to be a voice for equal protection to legislators in Louisiana through testimony, but our message was amplified through national media attention.
We had numerous opportunities to provide interviews to national news outlets like CNN, The New York Times, The Daily Wire, and many more. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of people across the country are hearing about the ideas of abolition and equal protection for preborn children.
And when a righteous standard is raised to set an example in one place, Christian people are inspired to get involved and take action across the country.
The political conversation in Texas is changing
In 2022 it was clear that the political conversation in Texas is changing.
During the last election cycle we had more candidates than ever return the AATX Candidate Survey and pledge to support the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act.
Candidates were talking about abolition during their campaigns because they know that voters care about this issue. Two of the top three candidates for the Governor’s office pledged their support of our bill to abolish abortion.
Abolition was a central issue in the tight race for HD 91 where abolitionist candidate David Lowe challenged Pro-Life incumbent Stephanie Klick who had killed the bill to abolish abortion during the last legislative session. That race was so close it went to a runoff during the primary.
And the Lord made our efforts fruitful again at the state convention for the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). We had a tremendous turnout of over 50 hardworking volunteers who made a difference in Houston by gathering petition signatures, speaking before committees, and distributing materials on equal protection to delegates. God blessed our efforts and the abolition position of the RPT gained ground and is stronger than ever.
The Church is learning to fight
The key to fighting the evil of abortion and WINNING is for the Church to engage in the battle. When God’s people reject worldly wisdom and compromised strategies and commit to doing God’s will God’s way, then we can trust the King of kings and Lord of lords to lead us to victory.
In 2022, God gave us the opportunity to be a voice to local church leaders by hosting our inaugural Church Leaders Conference.
We had 10 great speakers and over 150 attendees including at least 40 pastors. We amplified the message by livestreaming the conference to Facebook and YouTube. And we published the individual messages to our channels afterward.
Praise God we have had over 10k video views on these messages already!
These are just a few of the things that God has done in 2022.
What a privilege it is that the Lord calls us to do this work in His name. It is humbling to see His faithfulness as we serve Him in this fight. We look forward with hope to the great things He will do in 2023.
Thank you for joining us in this fight! Keep an eye out next week for emails that will tell you how YOU can support our work in 2023. If you are not on our email list, you can join here.
But today, simply rejoice with us and be glad. Give thanks to the Lord for what He has done!
For life, for justice, and for the glory of God,
