We have been working non-stop in Houston this week!
The AATX booth in the exhibitor hall, which gives us a central location where delegates can find us and learn more about equal protection.
Before the convention even started, we were testifying before committees on behalf of the Resolution to Abolish Abortion and strengthening the stance of Texas Republicans on equal protection for our weakest neighbors: preborn babies.
You can watch my testimony before the Legislative Priorities committee here, and see J.R. Haas, Vice President of Abolish Abortion Texas, testify here.
We are steadily building on the work we’ve done in previous years to make completely abolishing abortion and providing equal protection part of the Platform, Principles, and Legislative Priorities of our party.
We want the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) to be stronger on abortion, not weaker, as we potentially move toward a post-Roe America.
And, in this defining moment, we are seeing progress!
But there is a LOT of work still to do so we need your prayers TODAY and tomorrow.
Bradley Pierce with RPT chairman Matt Rinaldi (uncontested incumbent) who has taken the AATX pledge to abolish abortion.
As many of the delegates arrived yesterday, our volunteers were out in full force gathering petition signatures and passing out our pamphlets and postcards to raise awareness of the Resolution to Abolish Abortion and answer questions about equal protection.
Our volunteers are on the ground in and around the convention hall again today and tomorrow, so pray for their efforts. The work they are doing is CRITICAL to our efforts here at the convention and far beyond.
The contacts we are making here with thousands of engaged grassroots leaders in Texas politics are extremely important. These are exactly the kind of action-oriented people who need to hear our message.
We couldn’t make the most of this opportunity without our on-the-ground volunteers or without all the people who invested in this project to make sure we have the tools and materials we need to make a difference here in Houston. Thank you for investing in the work!
J.R. Haas and Bradley Pierce with Chairman of the Legislative Priorities Committee, Nathan Macias.
So far our platform planks on abolishing abortion and equal protection have been accepted by the Legislative Priorities Committee and will move forward to be considered by the delegates.
Plank 36. Equal Protection for the Preborn: We urge lawmakers to enact legislation to abolish abortion by immediately securing the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of fertilization, because abortion violates the US Constitution by denying such persons the equal protection of the law.
Plank 217. Abolish Abortion: Since life begins at fertilization, we urge the Texas Legislature to abolish abortion through enacting legislation that would immediately secure the rights to life and would nullify any and all federal statutes, regulations, orders, and court rulings that would deny these rights.
And abolishing abortion is moving up the list of Priorities for Texas Republicans in 2022-23.
The Legislative Priority to Abolish Abortion in Texas which will be considered by the delegates would make it a priority to:
“Abolish abortion by ensuring the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of fertilization, including adopting effective tools to ensure the enforcement of our laws to protect life when district attorneys fail to do so.”
Among self-professed, pro-life Republicans, it should be an absolute no-brainer to make abolishing state-sanctioned baby murder THE top priority until it is accomplished.
Unfortunately, it isn’t.
But it is encouraging to see the priority to abolish abortion move up the ranks in support because of our efforts here at the convention. Abolishing abortion will have to be ranked one of the top eight priorities among the delegates to become an official part of the 2022 Legislative Priorities of the RPT. We’re not done yet, so keep praying!
Pray that God will open the eyes and hearts of the delegates to love their preborn neighbors as themselves and to make abolishing abortion the top priority of Texas Republicans.
Keep praying for this effort, that God would show Himself strong on our behalf and on behalf of our littlest neighbors. We look forward in hope to what He will do!
For life, for justice, and for the glory of God,
Bradley Pierce
President
