Treat abortion like homicide because that’s what it is.

Treat abortion like homicide because that's what it is.

Treat abortion like homicide because that’s what it is.

It’s the simple solution that, until recently, very few other people were willing to talk about.

But the abolition movement is picking up momentum and more people are understanding the idea of equal protection every day. If it’s homicide when someone deliberately murders a born person, then it should be homicide when anyone does the same to a preborn person.

It’s not complicated.

I was encouraged when I saw this article shared recently by Christian apologist Sean McDowell.

The author, Alan Shlemon of Stand to Reason, makes a clear case for making abortion laws consistent with homicide laws.

It’s all laid out very simply.👏

I encourage you to read it.

This is what we’ve been pointing out about equal protection for years: it’s simple. The laws that protect our lives as born people should protect the lives of preborn babies also.

How did our laws get so complicated?

Abortion laws have been a mess for decades and it hasn’t gotten better since the Dobbs decision.

Right now, there are pre-Roe laws still on the books in some states and post-Roe laws being passed in others. Not to mention, the 50 years of baby-murder regulations that fell in between.

Some state laws are tied up in court challenges.

Others are simply not being enforced.[1]

Meanwhile, the abortion market is quickly shifting away from clinical abortions within the healthcare system to self-induced (a/k/a self-managed) medication abortions committed by women at home.

And virtually every Pro-Life law on the books exempts pregnant women from being subject to the law, which means abortion can continue legally, even in states with bans.

Like I said, abortion laws are a MESS.

You may have thought that post-Roe it would all get much better, but it really hasn’t.

The confusing laws just keep coming. Just this week the U.S. House voted to pass the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (H.R. 26) even though it’s already illegal to kill born people in every state. 🤷‍♀️

It’s a mess because instead of protecting preborn babies with the same laws that protect us, a whole separate system of law has been created for them as though they are sub-human.

This can’t be fixed by trying to clean up a few loopholes or passing another regulation.

✅ We already have laws to protect born people from homicide.

✅ We already have a justice system to provide due process for individual cases.

❌ We don’t need a tangled web of new laws.

We simply need to extend the protection of homicide laws to protect the lives of preborn people.

This is what we’ve been saying all along, even when it wasn’t very popular.

Now more and more people are saying it with us every day.

And we will keep on saying it until the life of EVERY preborn baby is protected equally under the law.

For life, for justice, and for the glory of God,

Bradley Pierce
